DIY Websites Cost More In The Long Run

Most of you know we do website and SEO audits, and we’re seeing more Framer and Webflow websites that are a disaster for SEO and leaking conversions.

I get it, there are great looking templates and designers can help make sites that are visually appealing, but often enough it’s not configured properly. We find that the underlying structure that drives SEO, GEO, and social media sharing is completely failing to index or drive any organic reach - even if the keywords or phrases are half-decent.

  • Meta titles and descriptions are often placeholder text or duplicated across pages. Nobody goes back and customizes them, so every page competes with itself for the same generic search intent.
  • Heading structure gets built for looks, not logic. Multiple H1s or none at all is common, and it confuses search engines about what the page is actually about.
  • Sitemaps and robots.txt are auto-generated and rarely checked. Pages point to broken links or poorly organized structure.
  • Images ship without alt text. It’s not enforced by the builder, so it just doesn’t happen unless someone manually goes through and adds it - bad for accessibility and bad for SEO.
  • Canonical tags get mishandled on CMS collections and dynamic pages, creating duplicate content that dilutes your rankings without any obvious symptom.
  • Finally, performance can take a big hit (large images, unnecessary animations, responsiveness issues.
